Our Story

Dallas and Ted Gilpin fell in love with the Hudson Valley in 2012 and purchased the second house they saw. It was a magical experience from the minute they stepped foot on Shale Hill Farm. After a long career in finance, they decided it was time to take their business background and invest and work locally.

They purchased a prohibition era tavern, the Dutch,  from friends in Feb of 2018 and it has been a successful path of growth ever since!

Each business added to Shale Hill Hospitality Group replicates the high standards Dallas and Ted started with when they renovated the Dutch, a beloved Saugerties institution. Each business has its own story but are all tied together by the same set of values.
